Health Advantage Credit Union Team Turns CU Kind Day into 1,000 Acts of Kindness
Saginaw, MI – A toothbrush, a few everyday essentials, and a message of support can mean a great deal when someone is away from home for medical care. In recognition of CU Kind Day, Health Advantage Credit Union team members assembled 1,000 toiletry bags for guests of Hospital Hospitality House of Saginaw.
The Health Advantage team devoted part of its recent In-Service Day to assembling the bags, filling each with essential personal care items and a card signed by team members. The completed bags were then delivered to the House.
Hospital Hospitality House of Saginaw provides an affordable place to stay for patients and families who need to be close to medical care. Its welcoming environment gives guests a place to rest and connect with others who understand what they are experiencing.
For Health Advantage Credit Union, which serves the healthcare industry, the project was a meaningful way to support people during a time when their attention is often focused on a loved one’s care.
“As a credit union serving the healthcare industry, we understand that the need for support extends beyond the patient to the people beside them,” said Laura Crase, President and CEO of Health Advantage Credit Union. “When someone is away from home because of a medical situation, everyday needs can easily become an afterthought. Our team wanted to help meet some of those needs and let guests know that people in their community are thinking of them. Hospital Hospitality House provides an important service, and we’re happy to support the care and comfort it offers.”
The project received a $1,000 grant from the Michigan Credit Union Foundation to help support the purchase of supplies.
CU Kind Day celebrates the credit union philosophy of “people helping people” through acts of service in local communities. The 1,000 bags reflect a shared commitment to making a difference through practical, thoughtful support. Health Advantage hopes the supplies and messages bring a little extra comfort to Hospital Hospitality House guests during a challenging time.
